The following few Scholarship and information is offered by and pertains to the NSDAR
All applicants must obtain a letter of sponsorship from their local DAR chapter. (The only exception is the American Indian Scholarship.) Your state scholarship chairman will assist in locating the chapter nearest you. Please send a stamped self addressed business size envelope to obtain the name and address of your state scholarship chairman and an application for any of the following scholarships.

Because of the high volume of requests we only send the information by return mail in the prepaid envelopes. We do not respond to phone or fax inquiries. Any correspondence regarding scholarships received without the stamped self addressed envelope will be destroyed.
Only applications completed correctly and submitted in one package will be considered. Incorrect applications or applications mailed to the incorrect address are discarded. No records are returned. Scholarships are awarded without regard to race, religion, sex or national origin. Do not submit a personal photo. If your records feature a photo, please cover it! Only winners are notified by the National DAR Scholarship Chairman following the approval of a ruling by the Executive Committee of NSDAR.
Consecutive-year renewals do not require additional Executive Committee rulings, but do require that an official transcript be sent from the school to the National DAR Scholarship Chairman. Students are only eligible for one scholarship from NSDAR.
Awards are placed on deposit with the college or university; any unused portion shall be returned to the National Society. Awards are based on academic excellence, commitment to field of study and financial need. No affiliation with DAR is necessary unless specified. The National Chairman, must receive all applications, except for the American History Scholarship, by the deadline indicated for the specific scholarship.

The following scholarships are available in the areas of political science, history, government, and economics:
The American History Scholarship is awarded to graduating high school students who will be majoring in American History. This award is intended to promote the study of our history among our finest students. U.S. Citizens residing abroad may apply through a Units Overseas Chapter. American History Scholarship applications are first judged on the State level. Only State winners are eligible for judging on the Division level. Division level First and Second place winners are judged at the National level.
The American History Scholarship is an award of $2,000 each year for up to four years with annual transcript review by the National Chairman required for renewal. Second and third place awards of $1,000 each year for up to four years may be given as funds are available.
Deadline: February 1, to State Chairman, DAR Scholarship.
Enid Hall Griswold Memorial Scholarship
The Enid Hall Griswold Memorial Scholarship is awarded to deserving students accepted or enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States who are majoring in either political science, history, government, or economics. This is a one time award in the amount of $1,000.
Deadline: February 15.
J.E. Caldwell Centennial Scholarship
J.E. Caldwell Centennial Scholarship is awarded to outstanding students pursuing a course of graduate study in the field of historic preservation. This award has been made possible through J.E. Caldwell & Co., official jewelers of the NSDAR in honor of the DAR Centennial. This scholarship is funded directly by Caldwell and is awarded during the Continental Congress. This is a one time award in the amount of $2,000.

Nursing School Scholarships
These are one time awards of $500. It is only necessary to submit one application for consideration for any award in this group or for the Madeline Picket Halbert Cogswell Nursing Scholarship listed under Special Scholarships.
Caroline E. Holt Nursing Scholarship
The Caroline E. Holt Nursing Scholarship is awarded to students who are in financial need and desire to attend or are attending an accredited school of nursing.
Deadlines: February 15 and August 15.
Mildred Nutting Nursing Scholarship
The Mildred Nutting Nursing Scholarship is awarded to students who have been accepted or are currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing. Preference will be given to candidates from the greater Lowell, MA area.

Occupational/Physical Therapy Scholarship
The Occupational/Physical therapy Scholarship is awarded to students who are in financial need and have been accepted or are attending an accredited school of occupational or physical therapy (including art or music therapy).
Deadlines: February 15 and August 15.
Medical Scholarships
These awards are in the amount of $5,000 annually for up to four years, with a maximum of $20,000 total. These awards are available only in consecutive four year increments. It is only necessary to submit one application for consideration for any award in this group.
Alice W. Rooke Scholarship
The Alice W. Rooke Scholarship is awarded to students who have been accepted into or are pursuing an approved course of study to become a medical doctor (not pre-med) at an approved, accredited medical school.
Deadline: April 15.
Irene and Daisy MacGregor Memorial Scholarship
The Irene and Daisy MacGregor Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students of high scholastic standing and character who have been accepted into or are pursuing an approved course of study to become a medical doctor(not pre-med) at an approved, accredited medical school.
This scholarship is also available to students who have been accepted into or who are pursing an approved course of study in the field of psychiatric nursing, graduate level, at an accredited medical school. There is a preference to females "if qualified".
Deadline: April 15.

Lillian and Arthur Dunn Scholarship
The Lillian and Arthur Dunn Scholarship is awarded to deserving sons and daughters of women who are current members of NSDAR (no other relationship qualifies). This is a $2,000 award for up to four years with annual transcript review by the National Chairman required for renewal. Outstanding students may apply for up to an additional four years as needed for continuing study. DAR Member Number of mother must be on the application.
The Madeline Pickett (Halbert) Cogswell Nursing Scholarship is awarded to students who desire to attend or are attending an accredited school of nursing. Applicants must be members, descendents of members or eligible for membership in NSDAR. DAR Member Number must be on the Application.
This is a one time award of $500.
Deadlines: February 15 and August 15.
Margaret Howard Hamilton Scholarship
The Margaret Howard Hamilton Scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior who has been accepted into the Harvey and Bernice Jones Learning Center, housing the Ben Caudle Learning Program University of the Ozarks, Clarksville, Arkansas. Applications must be requested directly through the Learning Center upon acceptance into this program for learning disabled students. This award is $1,000 annually for up to four years with annual transcript review by the National Chairman required for renewal.

American Indian Scholarship
The American Indians Committee of the DAR awards this scholarship to Native Americans. This award is intended to help Native American students of any age, any tribe, in any state striving to get an education. All awards are judged based on financial need and academic achievement. Specify that you want information on the American Indian Scholarship when you send the stamped self addressed envelope for information.
This scholarship is applicable to programs of vocational training or college/university at the undergraduate or graduate level. Graduate students are eligible; however, undergraduate students are given preference.
Applicants must be Native Americans(proof of American Indian blood is required by letter or proof papers)in financial need and have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher. There will be no exceptions.
This is a one time $500 award.
Deadlines: For Fall term, July 1; For Spring term, November 1.
Of $2,000 each will be awarded to persons on active duty in the uniformed military services, to veterans, and to their spouses or dependents, who are working full time toward a degree in accredited 4-year colleges or universities in the U.S. (Veterans entering college as freshmen are eligible to apply; all others must be enrolled as sophomores or juniors at the time of
application.)
Eligibility: Candidates must major in electrical or aerospace engineering, electronics, computer science, computer engineering, physics, or mathematics, and have a GPA of 3.4 on 4.0 scale or better. Candidates must provide a copy of Certificate of Service, Discharge Form DD214, or facsimile of candidate's current Department of Defense or Coast Guard Identification Card.

AFCEA/ORINCON IT Scholarship
A new undergraduate scholarship of $2,000 for students
in the greater San Diego, California geographical area who are majoring in electrical or aerospace engineering, computer science, physics or
mathematics. Active duty military personnel or veterans, their spouses or dependents who meet the above criteria for the General Paige Scholarship are eligible, provided the school attending is an accredited four-year college or university in the
greater San Diego, California geographical area. Please submit an application for the General Paige Scholarship.
The recipient of the AFCEA/ORINCON IT Scholarship will be selected from the qualified applicants.
The deadline for next year's scholarship is March 1, 2002. Applications for next year's scholarship will be available after November 15, 2001. Educational assistance available to the general public (Must be U.S. citizens.)
AFCEA General John A. Wickham Scholarships
Of $2,000 each will be awarded to juniors and seniors currently enrolled full time in accredited degree-granting 4-year colleges or universities in the U.S. Candidates must be enrolled as sophomores or juniors at the time of application.
Eligibility: Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and working toward a degree in electrical or aerospace engineering, electronics, computer science, computer engineering, physics, or mathematics, and must have
a GPA of 3.5 on 4.0 scale or better.

AFCEA/ORINCON IT Scholarship

AFCEA Ralph W. Shrader Scholarships
Of $3,000 each will be awarded to full-time postgraduate students working towards a master's degree in electrical or aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics, computer engineering, computer science, computer technology, electronics, communications technology, communications engineering, or information management.
Eligibility: Candidate must be a U.S. citizen enrolled full time at an accredited university in the U.S. Primary consideration will be given for demonstrated excellence. At least one scholarship will be available to a woman or minority candidate, provided all eligibility criteria is met.

AFCEA Fellowships
Of $15,000 each will be awarded to full-time postgraduate students working toward doctoral degrees in electrical, electronic, or communications engineering, physics, math, or computer science.
Eligibility: Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and endorsed by the Dean of the College of Engineering at any accredited university in the U.S.

AFCEA Copernicus Foundation Scholarships
Computer Graphic Design Scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded to full-time students working toward an undergraduate degree in Computer Graphic Design and related fields. Recipients will be chosen primarily on the basis of a competition of a single sample of digital artwork.
Eligibility:
Degree-seeking candidates must be enrolled full time in a Computer Graphic Design curriculum at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States, be a U.S. citizen, and be a sophomore or junior at the time of application.
Applications must be accompanied by at least one Letter of Recommendation and current transcripts. Please refer to application form below for details.
One sample of digital graphic artwork for intranets and internets, in particular web-based graphics, must be submitted per applicant in one of two categories:
1) Single Static Image.
2) Graphic Image intended for interactive use at a website. Artistic creativity is important, as well as mastery of web technology.
All work must be totally that of the applicant, not a group effort or an improvement on an existing web site.

or .TIF format on CD, zip disk, or diskette and send along with the application form and descriptive text. If the image is part of a website, please indicate which image is being submitted - only one image will be accepted for consideration. Please provide URL, if applicable. Annual award for a graduating high school senior who considers themselves "country--either in fact or at heart", and who is enrolled in or accepted to a four-year university or college. Student must rank in the top 50% of their graduating class and in the national ACT or SAT scores, and demonstrate financial need as well as leadership potential through extracurricular activities and work experiences. In addition to the application, student must submit a statement as to why they should get the scholarship. Annual awards for North American (Canada, Mexico & U.S.) college students who have a dog-related background. This could include participating in the junior handling classes at dog shows, or being closely involved with dogs, such as having a close relative who is a dog breeder, exhibitor, judge, or club officer. Award based on dog-related activities, academic ability (rank in top 33% of class), financial need and character. Preference given to students who are active in the sport of dogs. In addition to application, student must submit official transcripts, an essay, a statement regarding personal goals/career, and a $25 application fee. Annual one-time grants. THIS IS NOT AN ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. USA citizens/legal residents only. Graduating HS seniors from public/private schools are eligible to apply. Submit an official application form that includes; class rank, grade avg., SAT/ACT scores, high school activities (academic, extracurricular, community and athletic), awards received, essay and an official transcript signed by HS counselor. If interviews are necessary, ESPN will pay for necessary expenses. One grant is for a male and one for a female. Selections based on academic achievement and service to school and community. Participation in sports may be considered as part of the student's service to school, but students do not have to participate in any form of collegiate athletics to receive the award.

Annual awards LIMITED to graduating high school seniors who are residents in the jurisdiction of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks. Student must be US citizen & be enrolled in an undergraduate 4-year degree program at an accredited US college/university. Selection based on financial need, scholarship and leadership. Scholarship ratings of 90% or better and in the top 5% of their class. Applicants must submit official transcripts, 300-word essay, SAT/ACT scores, 1-3 letters of recommendation from school and 2 letters of endorsement from responsible community persons. Awards are for 4-years and the amount ranges from $1000-$5000. Application MUST be obtained ONLY from LOCAL Elks Lodges in the student's legal residence jurisdiction. NO APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE FROM NATIONAL OFFICE.
